Description

This classic Hawaiian Pizza recipe combines a perfectly crispy pizza crust topped with savory ham, sweet pineapple chunks, crispy bacon, and a generous layer of melted mozzarella cheese. The crust is brushed with a flavorful mixture of melted butter, Parmesan, and garlic powder, then baked to golden perfection. Finished with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes and fresh herbs, this pizza offers a delicious balance of sweet and savory flavors perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough and Sauce

  • 1 lb. pizza dough (at room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce

Toppings

  • ½ cup sliced or diced cooked ham (34 oz.)
  • 8 oz. pineapple chunks (drained and sliced thin)
  • 4 strips bacon (cooked and crumbled)
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese (whole milk, low moisture)

Crust Brush and Seasonings

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Red pepper flakes (to taste)
  • Parsley (for garnish)
  • Oregano (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F. If available, place a pizza stone inside the oven to heat, which will help achieve a crispier, evenly cooked crust.
  2. Prepare Pineapple: Slice each pineapple chunk in half horizontally to make thinner slices. Place them between paper towels to absorb excess moisture, preventing a soggy pizza.
  3. Shape Dough: Roll or stretch the pizza dough into an even 12-inch circle. Use a fork to poke holes across the dough surface, which will help prevent bubbling during baking.
  4. Assemble Pizza: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top, followed by the diced ham, pineapple slices, and crumbled bacon.
  5. Bake Initial Stage: Bake the assembled pizza in the preheated oven for 13 minutes until the cheese melts and the toppings start to cook.
  6. Prepare Crust Brush: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, grated Parmesan cheese, and garlic powder. After 13 minutes, remove the pizza from the oven and brush this mixture over the crust edges.
  7. Bake Final Stage: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 2-3 minutes until the crust turns golden brown and crisp.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, sprinkle red pepper flakes, chopped parsley, and oregano over the top. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Using a pizza stone helps achieve a crispier crust but is optional.
  • Removing excess moisture from pineapple prevents the pizza from becoming soggy.
  • You can substitute cooked ham with Canadian bacon if desired.
  • The crust brushing adds extra flavor and a lovely golden finish.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level.
