Ingredients
Scale
Wontons and Broth
- 1 bag (12 ounces) frozen mini chicken cilantro wontons (e.g., Trader Joe’s or Costco)
- 1–2 cups chicken broth (adjust based on desired soupiness)
- 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
Mushroom Mixture
- 3 tablespoons sesame oil, divided
- 8 ounces shiitake mushrooms, sliced
- 1 clove garlic, grated
Toppings
- 1–2 tablespoons chili crisp
- Green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Sauté Mushrooms: Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced shiitake mushrooms and cook until softened and flavorful, about 5-7 minutes. During the last 1-2 minutes of cooking, add the grated garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Simmer Wontons: Add the frozen wontons to the skillet along with the chicken broth and teriyaki sauce. Cover with a lid and let simmer for 5 minutes, or until the wontons are heated through and tender.
- Finish and Serve: Stir in the remaining 2 tablespoons of sesame oil and chili crisp to the skillet. Mix well to combine all flavors. Serve the wontons hot, and garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added crunch and aroma.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of chicken broth to achieve your preferred soupiness level.
- Chili crisp can be added gradually to control the spiciness.
- For a vegetarian version, substitute chicken wontons with vegetable wontons and use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
- Using a nonstick skillet helps prevent sticking and makes cleanup easier.
